A Couple Standing Alone<\/h5>\n

A couple standing alone on the fence of the archaeological site of the ancient cemetery of Athens. This is just a usual street photo. I hadn’t done street photography for a really long time. It was so long that I had “forgotten” how to take photos of people. This is the first successful one I made during a walk in the centre of the city. <\/p>\n

As I began writing this text I realized the contradiction in the situation I was describing. Love means life -both for the present and for the future. The place though, is an ancient cemetery. A place where the dead dwell. So, the contradiction has to do with life and death. One way to interpret it, is that death is always the backdrop for everything that happens in our life. Yet, the background is not what is really important. What is important and what we should always focus on,is the foreground. And in this case, the foreground is life, symbolized by the couple. <\/p>\n

Another thing to note is the distance between the lovers and the other people in the frame. Young lovers are as if they are living in a world of their own. The framing of the photo depicts that, hence the title ‘Couple Standing Alone’<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
